Grège Gallery Presents Chidy Wayne's art pieces at Historic Male Castle near Bruges, Belgium
This summer, renowned Brussels-based Grège Gallery is hosting an exhibition by Spanish-Guinean artist Chidy Wayne at the historic Male Castle, near Bruges. Born in 1981 in Barcelona, Spain, Chidy Wayne has established himself as a distinctive artist with a minimalist and figurative painting style. His creations, characterized by a blend of primitive and minimalist elements, draw inspiration from both ancestral traditions and the avant-garde art scene. Through quick and bold strokes, he tackles universal themes, exploring self-awareness and internal conflict.
Marking his third solo show in Belgium, Chidy Wayne presents a series of sculptures for the first time alongside his paintings and drawings. His work has been exhibited in major art hubs since 2021, including Brussels, Antwerp, New York, Paris, Miami, San Francisco, Madrid, Los Angeles, and Barcelona, showcasing his international recognition.
Male Castle, a historic building dating back to the 9th century located near Bruges in Belgium, serves as the perfect venue for Wayne’s exhibition. The castle, which has undergone several transformations over the centuries, was last inhabited by the nuns of Saint-Trudo Abbey. Its harmonious lines and light provide a striking architectural journey. The large vaults, reminiscent of Romanesque style, combine robustness and simplicity, while walls of raw plaster and stone highlight a modernist aesthetic that celebrates natural materials. Natural light floods the space, illuminating the spacious and open interiors while highlighting Wayne’s minimalist and gestural works of art.
