The brutalist office space of Slow by MVP Partners, located inside one of Berlin’s most anticipated creative campuses
MVP is an inter-disciplinary design firm providing comprehensive services in architectural design, interior design, object design and art integration. Originated in Berlin and Antwerp, their mission is to create exceptional spaces for humans that touch the mind, heart and soul.
For the Berlin office of Slow, an experimental hospitality collective devoted to the cultivation of arts, crops and inner gardens, MVP’s design director Tom Van Puyvelde came up with a design concept that encourages cooperation and creativity. Located in the central Platte building of Flussbad, one of Berlin’s most anticipated creative campuses and home to like-minded creative companies and entrepreneurs, this was the perfect place for Slow to implement their offices.
Maximizing the existing brutalist structure of the building was key to the initial approach. To connect the two main areas of the space, a pivoting door has been added as a permanent spatial sculpture in motion. As a counterbalance, MVP integrated elegant Japanese furniture in matte walnut together with sliding walls in smoked ash, framed in raw steel. The atmosphere of tranquility presented throughout the office space, is the result of balancing the existing elements with minimal additions, elevating the essential ambience of the space in its purest form.
