Kerstens designs an exclusive yet inviting working space in Antwerp’s city centre

Founded by Andy Kerstens in 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium, Kerstens is a multidisciplinary design studio with a clear vision on architecture, interior, furniture and product design. While each project is unique, Kerstens’ thorough design language focusses on a refined, timeless and architectural approach with a desire for craftsmanship and affinity for the atmospheric qualities. The design studio holds a clear vision to complete projects where all elements to the last details are devised to become a harmonious design.

One of Kerstens’ recent projects is RC Offices, a two-storey office with an informal bar and meeting area located near the water at ‘the little island’ in the centre of Antwerp. The approach was to become an exclusive, yet inviting and informal working space and to transform the initial concrete volume into a warm environment. Several zones are created within the open-plan space by working with changes in materialization and translucent fabric installations. Structural elements such as the sculptural ceilings of wooden beams are added for an improved balance and sensation. The darker toned materials such as walnut wood and blackened steel, combined with travertine stone and black interior details create a moody toned ambiance.
