Studio IMA showcases high-quality furniture, art and decor objects in the intimate setting of an apartment
Located in an apartment in the Roma Norte neighbourhood of Mexico City lies Studio IMA, a multidisciplinary gallery and interior design studio founded by Bettina Kiehnle. Short for In My Apartment, Studio IMA seeks to discover, represent and promote high-quality furniture, decoration objects and art created by both local and international artists and designers in the intimate setting of an apartment. This way, Bettina Kiehnle presents pieces of art, decoration and furniture in a more human and relatable place, making it easier for visitors to experience and imagine the piece in a home-like venue.
Collaboration and co-creation is an important factor at IMA: by collaborating with several influential craftsmen, designers and artists, Studio IMA aspires to make one-of-a-kind art pieces and decorative objects in a variety of materials. With an emphasis on limited-edition pieces, Studio IMA shows and co-creates pieces that can not be made twice the exact same way.
Aside from being a gallery, Studio IMA serves as a guide in creative and aesthetic development as well as complete interior design services, where the gallery practices the same defining principles of aesthetic simplicity and sensitivity.
In February 2023 Studio IMA joined forces with Casa Ahorita, a design shop in Mexico City, to present “TEA AHORITA”. An exhibition as a tea house with pieces of 30 artists and designers, exploring tea rituals and their generosity and absurdities in a setting where visitors can respire and contemplate.
